Warm-Up Time Seems Too Long
Started the engine for the first time a couple of weeks ago, and kept checking the temp gauge for warm-up. At idle, it took at least twenty mins for the gauge to rise to roughly 135. The mechanical AutoGage is an aftermarket which has a sensor which I installed myself @ rear of pass head. There is exactly 2.6 gals of 50/50 coolant= to the required amount in the manual. There are no air pockets which I can identify.
With this, the lower hose is just barely warm, & it seems like the thermostat is not opening (Obviously, it wouldn't without proper temp).
I emptied the cooling system and verified that the 160 deg thermostat is working properly. Tommorrow, I'll pull the sensor to check it. The heads don't seem that hot, and I know that they SHOULD be hot @ proper temp.
I don't think there is trapped air anywhere, and even if there was, shouldn't the sensor in the head show a higher temp?
Could the very cold outside air be causing this? Any ideas will be appreciated.

The 'warm-up time seems too long' has been solved.
Today, the temp was 35 deg F, and though it took awhile, the engine heated up to 190+deg. The 160deg stat opened properly, and the coolant sensor was accurate.
Prev, at 20 deg F without the tune, it had been idling rough at 800rpm and it could have been that under those conditions she wouldn't heat.
Today, I ran it at 1000 which caused a smoother idle and it made all the difference.
It was a great day..fixed two stubborn leaks, got the tach working, & solved several issues.

I don't drive it now, I mean like the last few days i had it out before the snow, I'd drive almost all the way to work and it would barely have heat. I drive 13miles Highway = 15min to work usually, My truck heats up quicker and it is Iron heads and block.
