Default Lunati or LS7

About a month ago i had a shop install a cam kit for my C5Z. After the work was done, i headed home and started to notice the car ticking pretty loud. I now have another reputable shop looking at it and are now saying that is related to a bad lifter. So now the heads are gonna come off and was recommended by the shop to go with LS7 lifters. Just wondering what the majority of yall are running. I heard some good things about the Lunati lifters with little or none problems. Which one do yall recommend?

LS7 lifters are generally considered to be reliable in most applications. Lunati lifters are made by Morel and are better lifters. The Lunati lifters resist pump-up better at sustained high-rpm operation (e.g. road racing).

Being that my C5Z wont be hitting higher than 6,500k redline, i should just stick with the LS7 ? Right now its pretty much just a weekend street/strip driver. So far it only has all bolt-ons except aftermarket heads. I just wana make sure i get the right ones cause having a shop pull them heads off arent cheap. lol

Did you touch the oil pump?? If you did, chances are good that the little $2 O-Ring is your problem. Coming from the driver's side?

Read up. I really wish they'd make this a sticky.

The oil pump was taken off when the original shop put the double roller timing chain but for some reason they said my stock ls6 pump would be fine. Anyways im having another shop fix the repairs and are replacing the stock one with a high volume one. I figure i can use my stock z06 oil pump on my 98 z28.

^ Get that larger O-Ring or the ticking will never stop. If it's stock, it may be the problem anyway; the O-ring.

The #7 lifter is the first lifter to see oil, and if that O-Ring is leaking at ALL it will cause oil system aeration which will not provide sufficient oiling to the #7 lifter = ticking.

My buddy an I spent two months tracking down that damn ticking. The o-ring was the problem..
