Default myplates.com

A buddy of mine brought this to my attention and now I'm curious and worried.

Personalized plates on there are now $195 and apparently that's in addition to regular registration? I'm gonna have to pay $250ish a year now? My buddy called his local tax assessor or DMV, whatever it is, and they said its strictly through myplates now, you pay them for the custom plate, the you pay the state for registration. WTF?

I think (from my understanding) it's $250 ish for the first year, then regular registration after that, no?

I ran into this recently as well. Got a "bill" for my vanity plates and was noted that this bill was exclusive of the registration. Sadly, I REALLY like my plates, but I think I'm going to get rid of them next year unless they revise their pricing.

WOW..that is highway robbery. I have never had personal tags, but I have considered it in the past. Probably just as well in my case....for the rare occasions that I do drive like a jackass, sure as hell don't want my car to be any more memorable than it already is

Never thought of it that way !! I had recently considered them as well, but with that consideration along with the ridiculous cost, I'll pass !

You can get the specialty plates from DPS and personalize them cheaper. You have fewer letters to work with though.

Yes, they are over $200/car per year. I've learned this a few times already. I still like the plates enough to keep them, I consider them an appearance mod.

Their site says: starting at $65. I have yet to find the $65 plates. They are business that does the plates for profit. Just have to decide how bad you want them. I believe the plates on the Camaro will stay the same price as long as I keep them? When I changed the plates on the crew cab I had to buy through plates.com And yes, that is $195 plus the registration. On top of that the road and bridge fee is going up also.

I have custom plates on mine. I just now saw this but I would be willing to just pay a five year deal and call it a day. I like the new 7 letter custom plates ... NICE!!

I'm pretty sure the $65 is just the custom looking plate with random numbers/letters.
