We were told to wait until daybreak and see how the roads look.

My building (downtown Houston) is closed until at least 9am, so today it's "work from home" for me. We have ice in Katy, but no signs of "snow".

Our office is closed, but those of us who are able to work from home have been told to do so. Since I work from home one day a week anyway, and I administer about half of our remote access systems, I'm working.

Not many others are, though, so my day may go from "working" to "call me if you need me" pretty quickly.

The city is completely shutdown. Due to the below freezing temps and the drizzle there is a coat of ice over everything that isn't making direct contact with the ground.

It started at Midnight and by 2AM over 40 calls were logged to 911 to reports accidents. Not only that, the emergency vehicles and personal that are supposed to be doing the rescuing are getting into accidents themselves.

This is pretty serious. Stay home. Here are a few gems from trans star. These were taken all over the city in a window of 10 minutes. Its either completely deserted roads or accidents.

My brother just called me. He tried to go to work and made it to 610 and I45 when he got stuck. He couldn't go forward onto an over pass because he just kept sliding backwards, so he turned around on the freeway and exited an on-ramp. He even had several people following him going the wrong way on the freeway when he exited. LOL

I got to work this morning and the parking lot was almost empty. We have maybe 10% staff here today. I know a lot of them are staying home just because they have an excuse though.

I don't have to head in until about 5:30 today, so hopefully by then it will be better. Even still, I may just avoid 45.

I took the feeder roads all the way to work. It took me 45 minutes to get here on a normal 15 minute highway commute. Only 3 other co-workers showed up, not even the boss.
