Default LS6 cam

Ok I have order my heads(ls3), intake(truck), and pistons for my ls2.
I wanted to install stock ls3 camshaft. But the 4x pick for cam sensor has toss that out. been trying to call GM VCI line to see if they could change my program to take the 4x signal. But after trying 5 times. I give up. Lucky not calling for customer VCI number.

So I've been looking at many camshaft specs last 2 days. I want it to idle smooth. Looking at the LS6 camshaft for the 02-04. Has this cam been try with ls3 heads and truck intake? Looking for input. Want smooth idle, want lsa be around 116-118. Keep the lift below the max for ls3 head of .570.

why do All that work for a ls6 cam...get a custom made cam with good duration and low lift...so say 228/232 570 lift 115lsa

I work for a chevy dealer (sells SLP cars, and parts), and getting my parts at cost. That's why I am looking at the ls6 camshaft. Plan to install a supercharger kit in 3 yr.

I have put 2 SLP blower kits on customers 2010 Camaro's, with full exhuast. Last auto camaro put down 505hp/570ft. I love how they drove. So going try doing something close. But with awd.

call comp and have them grind you a 3 bolt cam to stock LS3 cam specs, the ls6 cam was designed for cath port heads, LS3 heads are very different to cam in comparison.

I looked at it's specs few days ago. The lsa drops, and with the lift and duration would not be a smooth idle. Really don't want have to have custom tune till a supercharger is installed.

I did get talk th to gm late today. 3 internal departments later, with no help.

I think the LS6 02-04 cam would do what you want.

according to this link the LS2 & LS3 cams are not that different.

Haha, TAC not being any help? Get outta here with that

Then I'd have to agree if you want a smooth quiet idle, then the LS6 is probably the one you want.

@ 01chery
The way I am leaning. Been looking at so many sites trying find someone with ls2 and ls6 cam. So might get idea how enigine will act, and what else might need to do.
Agree about TAC. We call them tech resistanceat are dealer.
The performance line did not help. But agree with me about the LS6 cam being close.
VCI line, got a dumb ###.

@ Neu
The LS3 and LS2 exhaust shows be the same. The LS3 and LS6 intake show to be the same. The LS6 exhaust is the main dif, and idk how much that would change the engine.
I have been master tech for close to 19yrs now. But only playing with chevys for about 4 1/2 of it. Was die hard lightning and mustang before.

My LS2 cam is coming out in two weeks along with the valve springs, retainers etc.
If you want to try the LS2 cam I will sell for very cheap.

My car puts down 399 rwhp and 403 rwtq right now with only bolt-ons and a tune.

No thanks.
I have the stock ls2 cam in my trailblazer ss.
I had hope that one of the members on the board would have used the ls6 camshaft in a ls2. Reading around forums, see me most going for alot bigger. I did order the ls6 camshaft, and should be in monday. Can't beat the price paying for it, intake, and heads.
Now trying figure out were get set arp head bolts, and rod bolts.

Completely understand, wish GM would have used the 02-04 Z06 cam in my 06 C6 vette and my 08 TB SS!

My cam, pistons, rockers, gaskets, and one head cam in today. Hope the rest makes it in before end of the week. Had to open the box look at the head, and love the size of the valves.

I ordered set ARP head bolts. Wanting to do rod bolts. Been on the fence for katech(cost 200), arp (cost 90), or gm (cost 0).
