New PB at Fontana today...
I had a friend call me earlier in the week about a private track rental at Fontana prior to the Summit Series Race there this weekend. Took the day off, loaded up the car, and off I went.
Weather was mid 70's, DA right above 2100-2300 feet all day, slight wind from 11 o-clock, and minimal track prep - not missing, but not enough.
Best run:
1.608 sixty
4.598
7.139
96.35 mph
9.356
11.241
119.34 mph
Worked on getting the suspension dialed in, and got the 60-foot down to a best of 1.564. Finding that sweet spot on a poorly prepped track without tire shake proved to be a lot of trial and error. The track was so bad that my best sixty was achieved leaving the tree off idle and foot-braking it. Trans-brake? Forget it.
This was my first time racing with a stalled auto, and I enjoyed it a lot. My left leg was feeling left out of the action, as I typically drag a stick car.
I really think in good air, playing more with shift points (set at 7k - too low), better tires (need a stiff wall Hoosier in a 28" size) and more seat time on a decent track that 10.99X's are possible. The fun part is that the car turned 11.2X-11.3X at 118-119 all day as I learned the shifter, how to launch loading the converter, adjusted the QA1's, etc.
Pretty fun day!

Your car easily has 10's in it. You just need to hit the track on one of those good air days. Too bad the prep wasn't there. You can adjust your launch rpm and knock some ET off right there. Every car has a sweet spot. My car is faster off of the foot brake, and ET's the best when I hold it at the line at 3500rpm. It took me 10 or so tries to figure it out.
