Default What timing chain?

I am rebuilding my lt1 and want to install a new timing chain set; what set should I use for the lowest coast;my motor should have 370+rwhp. The gm performance set is way overpriced.

You'll also want to make sure there is no clearance problem with the crank position sensor reluctor (if you are still using it). It may/may not be an issue with the single roller's crank gear thickness.

Actually I have seen more cases of the LT4 ED chain breaking than the stock one, and the price is ridiculous.
With an electric WP yes you can use cheaper gen 1 timing chains.

That said though the stock chain is very reliable with the waterpump load on it, talking 10-11hp at high rpm, just swapping to an electric pump takes that load off of it meaning it would be even more reliable than it is when driving the WP.

So you paid an absurd amount of money for the ED set when you did not need to retain a LT style set with the WP drive? You could have spent a fraction as much on a gen 1 set when you don't need the WP drive.

There's no denying it works, but it is completely overrated and overly expensive for very little benefit, ESPECIALLY if you have an EWP.

^Listen to this guy. When I replaced mine I just went with a stock replacement from Napa, no problems here (and I have an EWP).

For the best value, (not cheapest, but a great inexpensive set) I chose the zz4 timing set from GM performance parts. It also came with the retainer, it's bolts, and the 3 cam bolts. Heavy duty looking single roller set. All well under $60
