small clicking noise?

small clicking noise? So i just got a 99 trans am ls1 about a week ago.
Been trying to figure out what the problem is, when i step on the gas hard i hear a slight clicking noise, NOT when cruising not when normal driving and not when i am sitting still and rev just when i am getting on it pretty good it will make this noise.
I had another car a while back that would make a similar but much louder noise all the time and it was a bad lifter to give you a idea of the sound but its really faint and like i said it only does it when i really get on it.
Could it be a lifter about to go out or what??
