Default still having problems

alright car was running like crap took it to the shop and replaced the alternator and cleaned of the battery terminals. i got the car back and a few days later it just started messing up again. i was letting it warm up before i went to school and it just cut right off. idles fine, drives fine, its a little iffy from a cold start up but when the car just cuts off for no reason i can start it right back up with no problem. ive also noticed while while its idling, when the fan kicks on it drops the rpm's from 600 to like 400 and makes it choke out. any ideas? bad temperature sensor or any other electronic bs?

What year car and how many miles? Any engine work or have you changed any of the ECM settings with a tuner?

Is it throwing any codes? Your local Auto Zone can check them for you if you don't know how.

I suspect a mass air flow but don't run with that until you have some verification.

thats what it was showing at first so i bought a new one and it ran worse than the original so i took it to the shop and they said it was the alternator. so they changed that and said the computer wasnt getting enough power and thats why the sensors were messing up, giving me false codes. but i know for a fact my o2 sensors are bad. the code was set off and i can smell it burning rich just havent gotten around to replacing them yet, but i wouldnt think they would cause the car to shut of at idle and it also came up as EVAP, a vacuum leak or purge, something like that.

Take the glovebox out and you'll see a bunch of wires. Whats probably happening is the wires are getting cut on the metal behind the glovebox. Its a known issue with these cars. If thats not the problem do a tsb search.

My car would do something similar for a while. It would idle like crap and cut off and some of the gauges werent working, like the gas gauge. It stopped on its own for no reason.

Agreed with the above. With mileage this is a common problem
