Default crane HR-210/319-2S1-12 cam?

anyone know what this cam is? pulled it out of my motor. This is the cam I made 356rwhp/360tq with. Goes to show, you never know what you have buying from someone else.

I searched google, only found one post with this cam in a cobra forum, the guy made 540rwhp on 9lbs of boost. Wondering if it's a blower/turbo cam?

I verniered it to confirm and it's .510 lift with 1.6's.

kinda hoping its something better than stock or the hotcam because Im getting this cam lol Need something not too crazy for my current engine since its 140k so I dont want anything I have to rev like crazy in a high milage engine but something better than stock would be nice, especially if the idle sounds aggressive.

That's the way Crane used to make their grind numbers. 210 in the duration at .050, 319 is the base lobe lift, and the 12 at the end is the last part of the LSA, 112. I cant remember what the 2S1 means.. So it basically looks like you've got a 210/224 Crane cam, which is a well performing milder camshaft [http://www.cranecams.com/product/car...etail&p=24297]

Looks like Black94Z28 already has dibs on it, or else I'd make you an offer. Enjoy.

Sounds like the crane 227 cam. I would keep it if it's a street car.

If those are the only numbers on it, then we've pretty much figured out what it is.

Would this be an improvement (or worth my time/money...although cam was free and I have 1.6 rr, still need springs, gaskets, etc) on a pretty much bolt on LT1? What is the stock cam specs for comparison?

It'd be good for a daily driver if you wanted gobs of TQ from your stock bottom end.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/lt1-lt4-m...ion-guide.html

Cruise that link and it has a little part about the stock cam and the Crane 227 you have. I don't see why you wouldn't throw that cam in there if you had the time and money as long as it helps you meet the goals you have for the car.

My current engine is a stock 140k mile engine which Ive had since 123K and to my knowledge it hasnt been apart. I have a spare LT1 short block which I plan on a little more for, but keeping it until this engine goes. My current engine runs strong with no indication its an older one minus the odometer so I figure why pull it when it runs. Plus this will give me an opportunity to replace the springs, rockers, etc while Im at it.

Yes. I went from 13.0 @ 105 to 12.56 @ 111.0 with a slipping tranny by putting in that cam and 3.73's. I was still on the stock converter at the time too. Ended up trapping 115 with that cam with a 6-speed and mild heads.

How did you set up your valvetrain? springs, rockers, pushrods, etc? I have comp cam s/a 1.6 rr's that are sitting on the shelf in my garage. Trying to make a parts list. Sounds like a fun weekend project for spring

plus 1...wouldnt mind knowing...would be nice if it was a little more aggressive sounding but from what I read, it sounds stock.

I somehow missed this thread. LOL Everyone speaks very highly of the Crane 227. Merim, what cam did you think you had before you pulled it out? What was the rest of your set-up that got you the 356/360 numbers? Stock or ported heads? M6 or A4? Etc.

Mike...if Merim's engine was otherwise stock, then you should have some numbers right there to expect to be near. Sounds like a very good improvement over stock to me. From what I've read, it seems like most cam only cars dyno around 350 give or take 10. Every now and then someone claims closer to 370, but that seems exceptional. Although I can see an arguement for wanting something that sounds more aggressive, it seems to me that if cam only set-ups all make about the same power despite the grind, then I'd rather have a very mild mannered cam like that one. It should make more power down low and be eaiser on parts too. JMHO.

Quick Reply: crane HR-210/319-2S1-12 cam?
