Same hood? I don't like the front view as much as the WS6 hood if it is. Decisions decisions... It is more unique however. Just seems too high from the front.

First one looks like it might be the raptor hood. Second one is the mecham hood, I think it looks uglier than sin.

^What he said, the Mecham hood looks like crap IMO. Raptor hood is the best IMO.

Here is a front shot of the Raptor-

If the link disappears for lack of sponsorship, simply Google "suncoast automotive performance hoods" & find the Raptor under the Pontiac Firebird 98-02 area.

Thumbs up

Thanks guys. You always come through!

I assume these are just as functional as the WS6 hoods? Not sure if the larger opening would be better or if the WS6's two smaller openings would be superior do to more focused air flow?

Yea, it's my understanding that because of the front bumper the nostrils are in a really low pressure spot. If you drive the rain watch the water beads on the hood, they don't move very fast so there's not a whole lot of air movement there. That's mainly why the ram air stuff out there brings air in from the fog lights or underneath the car where the air moves much faster.

...ANYWAYS, since it sounds like you're still undecided I'll post a pic of my WS9 hood from the same angle for comarison

IMO, the Raptor on a Formula front end is the best looking hood. For a Trans Am, I love the WS9.

Should I add the heat extractors? I don't really want rain and debree getting all over the engine, etc.

The heat extractors on the raptor hood are along the back, I have never had issues with water getting in (either from the front or rear) and I have had that hood since 2000.
Also get the suncoast airbox because their hood has the air flow a different path (top to bottom) than the stock design (bottom to top), so using any stock set-up restricts the flow badly.

Oh and just incase you are wondering, here is a pic of the suncoast heat extractors, like I mentioned, its on the back side, not the top like the firehawk hood.
