3rd gen buffs in here please
ok so I was talking to my buddy about wanting some gta wheels, and he tells me he has a pair and that I can come pick them up. well I get there and look at them and they are not gta's, and I had never seen them before. they had the mesh design of the gta wheels, but were natural aluminum finished, and were 15" so I loaded them up and brought them home. I have done some searching and have found out they are 85-90 firebird se wheels and are apparently very rare as I can only find very limited information on the cars and even less on the wheels. anyone know the value of these? they look exactly like these:

ok. wasn't sure since I couldn't find much info on them. I was considering that also since I have located a set of black gta's like I want, and I have a set of 15x8" slicks sitting around. if they are of no value I will black the centers and use them for my slicks. thanks for the quick response

What kind of car do you have? I want a 88 trans am, not a GTA because GTA's werent available in standards.
Anyway, if you have a GTA there are three wheels you need to look at.
1) HRE 504. Very rare, available in big widths and big huge step lips, and are 3 piece and you can literally piece together your own special set up. I am picking up a set for my BMW 540i next week hopefully.
2) BBS Rs. Similar style to the HRE but much more attainable
3) BMW Style 5. basically a 2 piece version of the BBS Rs. Made by BBS. The RS is 3 piece the style 5 is 2 piece. Common and inexpensive. You need to leave the center caps off but these would all look great on any 3rd gen bird

Just some info for you. You could get a manual trans in the GTA from 87 all the way through 92. You just couldn't get the manual trans with the 5.7 engine. You could get a 5 speed with the LB9 in the GTA and if you selected the performance axle ratio G92 (3.45 in the 9 bolt and 3.42 in the 10 bolt) you got a hotter LB9 than if you didn't check that option. They recieved the L98 cam, dual cats, and a 145mph speedo that wasn't standard with the regular LB9 with a 5 speed.

this is the first set I've ever seen. i see plenty of gta wheels around, but not these. I have a 99 ws6 as seen in my sig. and to disspell some myths I have read about putting these wheels on these cars, as I bolted a set onto my car last night for fitment and to see how they look:
the 16x8" REAR gta wheels will direct bolt on all the way around with no clearance issues
they DO NOT stick out
they don't look bad at all
