Default Fuel system for N/A 408

ive tried searching for just this but everyone that is all motor is always wondering what fuel pump and injectors to use for nitrous applications.

i am not going to use nitrous.

ive already decided on either fast 57# or seimens 60# injectors with my stock fuel rail (ls2).

i am not interested in using a BAP so should i be looking at a 255 for a fuel pump?

408 will include:
PRC 237 heads
Ed Curtis cam (specs will be desclosed when he is finished. in the 25x .6xx 11x range)
1-7/8 headers
fast 102 intake
NW 102 tb (DBW)
SNL 4" intake with 100mm MAF

also, if i switch to a 255, will the stock FPR be able to handle that pump? i.e. keep fuel pressure at 58 psi? or do i need to get a new FPR?

derek

In my 01 WS.6, Im running a Racetronix PnP fuel pump with a hotwire kit, with all the stock lines/rails, etc without any issues. The car has seen a 175 shot on top of a 400rwhp setup without a single problem if that helps any.

I have a 408. 255 Walbro, 42lb green tops, rest of fuel system is stock. Injectors hit about 65% DC, correct injector info is in the tune as well so DC is accurate. They are rated 51-57lbs at 58psi......

I'm not sure what it's putting down, somewhere between 500-530 rwhp.... 11.1 compression, DCR is 8.7 so close to the limits of pump gas. Running about 20 degrees of timing on the big end.

You have bigger heads and cam than me but mine doesn't surge or buck at 900 RPM, lol. Slight lope at idle. It's a very streetable 500. With a 200 shot. :-)

I think those numbers are a little optimistic but FWIW - I run a Racetronics 255 wired to the alternator and 42lb Ford Green Top injectors at 60psi. This is on a return style fuel system which gives you a little more room. Numbers in sig.

Racetronix pump and harness will supply 550-600 rwhp NA. If you end up in the 550 range it will be perfect but i would hate to see it maxed out. I would step up the injectors to the 60# give me a call I will help you get it worked out for your needs.

I run a return style fuel system with my 408. 255 walbro, PTE 50lb inj. I have seen as much as 62% DC at 60psi FP. It's all the motor needs right now. I run a standalone system for my kits.

Wow, at only 65% duty cycle, the 42# inj. and 255 pump sounds like a pretty decent\cheaper idea.

By no means am I trying to budget build, just saying why spend money you don't have to..

Higgs Boson: drivability of the cam is all in the tune man lol I know ill have to mess with it a lot on that big of a cam but I have all the time in the world since I do it myself
