I am in the market for a new DD. must seat 4 passengers all comfy like, in the 4k cash range, and would be nice to be able to carry some kind of cargo in it. What do you guys think i should get?

How about a GTP? For $4K you can get a Honda. If your lucky you can find an older person selling their car. Good luck!

^^^^ badass cars for a DD.

A camry will NEED a timing belt change every 60k on the dot! My mom's blew 3 times just before 60k She ditched that when it started adding up in cost. They are just over $400 to repair when it happens it takes a few valves and the water pump along with it.

I say accord, i love my sisters 1998. That thing just keeps going and going man, its comfy and gets just over 32mpg avg. (70-75% hwy) Huge trunk too, and they make roof luggage racks for them as well.

gm makes some good fwd cars the are not he best i agree. you have to keep up your maint realy well. i have seen alot of problems with nissan toyotas. and hondas they are not great car they are the same quatity as gms. i would say the gm ecotech engine holds up to any import 4 cyl now a days. ive owned a gtp realy good car had some prob nothing i coulded fix myself. hit 400000kms. had a 2000 chev malibu v6 hit 550000kms not a prob the body rusted off the malibu thats what killed it . by buddy has a ecotech cav 300000km still going no prob.

I think that lots of makers make good cars. Just people don't really take care of them.... I'm sure if we go underneath an American and a Toyota u will find more problems with an American car then a jap car. (front wheel drives)

Guess it depends on the rebuild. My 02 GTP's tranny was rebuilt by the previous owner and hasn't missed a beat in the 2+ years I've had it.

You can rebuild them just fine you just need to know what you're doing. Btw I put over 500whp on mine it was built but did just fine.

Hell I got 20k miles out of a stock trans doing 400whp and rolling on 20" rims. And I raced the **** out of it.

:edit: it already had 60k on it when I went turbo.

Id love to have a gtp, ive driven them, and in stock trim they were pretty fast and fun for a dd. Where i live there is a 20 mile in length hill, from 500 ft bottom to 3600 ft top that devides two towns, i work in both towns. and summer we see on average 126 degree temps all day here, so it would have to have enough power to lug its self around and a great cooling system, and not die of exhaustion. I know several guys out here with good running hondas, they have to pull over several times climbing that hill.

I considered a 2 door s10 blazer for its cargo room in the back and back seat as well, I think the xtreme ones look good....

I would LOVE a 95 or so impala ss, but absolutely refuse to buy one for what a lot of ppl are asking for them, id rather buy another ls1 car for that, drive a six speed again, have ttops, and still save cash.

right now im driving my 77 k5 blazer... its a tank, on 40 inch boggers, 14 dollars a day to work and back is starting to get very, very annoying!
