Default Anything special about May 2002 or later?

I was looking through some ebay auctions on WS6's a couple weeks ago. I ran across an auction with questions from some bidders. A bidder asked the seller to verify that the car was built in May 02 or later and wanted a pic of the door label.

I am really curious as to why he asked that, anything special about a F-body built in May 2002 or later?

My SS was made in June of '02. It has an LS6 block. Thats the only difference I can think of. You'd never ever know it has that block in it since it doesn't make it run any different, but maybe the guy asking the question thinks it does.

That and all the parts with casting clocks, from the transmission to the interior plastics are made in may or june '02. It's not like a early 2002 with the parts made in '01, guess it makes everything a few months newer.

Quite simply, no.

The guy must have his own personal reasons, that matter only to him.

Ha, I was wrong about the date. He was looking for an April 02 or later. Thanks for the responses, I agree with you guys that it was just a personal preference. Here is the auction I was talking about:

I'll subscribe to this thread and send the VIN off to my guy at ASC and see what the ASC date and build number is.

From all the 2002 WS6 cars that I've got ASC numbers on, the car on Ebay has the highest VIN I've saw so far.

^That would be really interesting to know, 08/02 does seem like a very late model.

I believe that production ended about the middle of August, could be wrong. It has been awhile since I got my build number, but I remember that production only continued a couple weeks after mine was made on 7-24-02.

The door labels only say 06/02, 07/02, 08/02, etc. You have to get the actual production date and build number from ASC.

Mine was built in June 2001. When did the '02 cars go into production?

The early build number I have for the 2002 WS6 cars is #502 which was converted on June 9, 2001. This leads me to believe that the first cars were being converted in about April 2001.

FWIW: The highest build number I currently have for the 2002 cars is # 10,814 which was converted on July 17, 2002.

I stand corrected on this, I got a request from a member who's last six of his car are 170772.
I'll be sending another list to my "source" later this week so I'll update this when I get it back

Check this thread to see the build numbers of some of the member's cars here on Tech.

This car in question was built on August 7, 2002 and is #11691.

The other member I was referring to is sdxp787, his car was converted on August 21, 2002 and is #12291. They built 12517 WS6 cars for 2002 and his is one of the last couple hundred built
