Default Build my 99 z28 ls1, 6.0, or a turbo buick motor?

Hey guys, so I have a couple friends that have Grand National’s and they are constantly putting a hurting on what they affectionately call my slomaro! I don’t know if I can take it any longer…..Hell I am even getting creamed by a local cutlass with just a 355 chevy (my car is all stock)! So needless to say i need to turn up the wick...

So I am thinking of a few options that I would like some feedback on…

1. modding my ls1 or the 6L block i have....maybe i'll have to go forced induction though to get the power i want/need to beat these guys...

2. Unloading the Camaro, and build a GN – if you can’t beat them, join them!

3. I am also considering sticking with an f-body and picking up a TTA since that has that turbo 6 motor in it…

I am not sure what these guys are laying down horsepower wise, but they are spraying alcohol, and walk away like I am standing still, I am guessing high 10’s…so whatever i do, i'll want to be as fast or faster...

Any thoughts would be appreciated...I realize i have a lot of homework to do, but was curious as what other people thought...

Thanks guys…
Andy

If your gonna run down the dragstrip, and occasional street I WOULD look into head/ cam/ 3.5- 4k stall / full exhaust and tune, that should silence the naysayers!

Thanks for response... My car is my mostly street driven...even does the grocery duty from time to time.., so I think that high of stall would be ill mannerred on the street??? or not? - What kind of power would that put out? How streetable would that combo be? Got any links or brands I can do some research on?

Thats what sick about the GNs...they rip down the 1/4 and can still be a DD....

Thanks,
Andy

217zenki...thanks for the reply...

my apologies guys...i should have said i am not looking to spray the motor, do you think i'll NOS to get the power i would be lookin for out the 6L?

I see you have a monte SS..how do you like it? what motor do you have that? Still have the original 305? I'll have always been a fan of g-bodies...kinda thinking about picking one up...

I would build the 6.0 in the long run it will be cheaper and more reliable. As can be seen from my sig I have some experience with the turbo buicks. Don't get me wrong they are fun and can run but are finicky as hell.

Build the 6l some ported heads, good cam, stall, and sticky tires and a good tune should put you in the ballpark.
