What shifter to use doing M6 to 4L80E swap?
What is needed when swapping M6 to 4L80E regarding shifter assembly? I know you have large bracket from A4 4L60 that you mount on the floor (do you need to cut it?), then the shifter "stick" itself, what else? Am I right that shifter is connected to 2 cables, that go to the transmission? How are they connected to the tranny itself? What else is needed? What are common options for this swap?
Pics would be great if you could post them

I literally went to a junk yard, found a A4 car, and with a sawzall I cut the whole tunnel out where the A4 shifter mounts to. Then I simply used rivets to attach it to my M6 tunnel. Great thing is it really makes this swap simple for the interior..... all you have to do it slap a A4 consol on top and youre done. No need for custom plating... custom shifters.... etc. I even used a 4L60 cable and mount (with minor modification to mount to the trans).

personally... I say go custom....
get a TCI outlaw shifter, and custom make a plate/bracket to mount your shifter to to fit how you like it to sit.
I reused the t56 center console, and just cut it to fit the shifter housing...
next plan is to fiberglass the hole shut and make it fit custom to the TCI shifter boot

its comes with a cable, it should be a universal fit.
it also comes with a set of brackets to mount the cable to the trans..
*EDIT*
it comes with a cable if you order a shifter/trans package
otherwise you need to buy one of their Universal cables.

Pictures and words tell that the stock cable and bracket mount to the trans - with a hole drilled into the stock bracket for a pan bolt to use. But - do you take the stock 4L60E lever from the trans shaft and put it right onto a 4L80E/TH400 trans shaft? Pictures would help!
