Default Mobil 1 0W-40 good for summer?

I've pretty much heard nothing but good things about Mobil 1 0W-40.

That being said and sorry if this is a dumb question, but is Mobil1 0W-40 a good oil for summer/warmer months. I looked at their website and they mention how it's good in cold start situations.

Thanks in advance!

I never get away from using 5w30. Theres to many gimmicks out there. Just use whats been proven for many years. 5w30 and new filter every 3k unless you wanna change it more.

It would probably be alright.

Mobil 1 5W-30

cSt @ 40ºC 63.1
cSt @ 100ºC 11.1
HTHS 3.13

Mobil 1 10W-30

cSt @ 40ºC 65.3
cSt @ 100ºC 10.7
HTHS 3.26

Mobil 1 0W-40

cSt @ 40ºC 75
cSt @ 100ºC 13.5
HTHS 3.8

edit: got these from the tech sheets on the USA website. For some reason on Canada's Mobil 1 site the viscosity numbers are slightly different. Ah well.

Just for fun,

Pennzoil Ultra 5W-30

cSt @ 40ºC 57.5
cSt @ 100ºC 10.3
HTHS 3.1

Pennzoil Ultra Euro 5W-40

cSt @ 40ºC 74.4
cSt @ 100ºC 13.1
HTHS 3.68

The Platinum data sheet is down for maintenance on the Pennzoil site. Saw one dated 2009 but that may not be true anymore. At any rate it is similar to the Ultra since it uses same basestock (Shell XHVI).

Castrol Syntec 0W-30
cSt @ 40ºC 72
cSt @ 100ºC 12.21
HTHS 2.9 ("minimum" spec listed on data sheet. Supposedly more like 3.5)

Yes, it is great; been using it for a few years now, summer and winter.

You'll be fine. 0W-30 oils, especially those produced by major manufacturers, are not gimmicks. I like Amsoil 0W-30 myself.

that oil is bmw long life approve, can go over 8k easy. Its good oil might see a little decrease in gas miles since it thicker, but who care about gas miles when you own a v8 ^^
