Default Locked out-can I break in?

Hi all,

I have a locked 01 Firehawk with t-tops with a dead battery and 1 set of keys, which I'm beginning to think are in it. Don't ask me how I ended up here, I just need to know if I can break into this thing without damaging it. I know I can pry the window out, but not enough to unlock the top, and I cant get the manual lock to operate with a wire either. Any other ideas?

Thanks,
DK

I had to help my friend get his keys out of his Z28 once. If you leave your t-tops unlocked like I do, have somebody pull back the window while somebody squeezes there hand in to unlatch it.

My only other suggestion would be to get something long that wont bend too easily, have somebody pull the window back enough so that you can push over the manual unlock.

If you don't have experience in getting keys out of a locked car, it can take a lot of time and frustration to get the car unlocked. But it's either that or pay for a locksmith. Good luck

there is a kit with a long, sturdy bar and a bag that blows up,similar to a blood pressure cuff. you put the bad in between the window and door, pump it up and open the lock with the bar. you could just use a coat haner also.

Thanks guys, sounds like I'm on the right track, I just need to find the right thing to stick in there, that lock is unbelieveably hard to pull.

I can't believe someone just signed up here, his first post is asking how to break into your car, and you guys are trying to tell him how.

Yeah, no kidding.

Here's how you can break into that Firehawk. Get a ride to the nearest GM dealer, show them your id and your insurance card, and let them make a door key for you. Cost about $15. And if your going to post "my license and insurance are locked in my car too", please don't.

I'm not on here because it's a stock car that's staying stock. 2001 Firehawk #C001 10th Anniversary. I've never had a problem with it, so why would I be on here. I'm on Jeepforum under the same username, and that vehicle I do have issues with and is modified so I'm on there somewhat frequently. The Jeep takes about 30 seconds or less to get into without a key, just wondering if i could save myself a few bucks.

Another note, those guys didn't really tell me anything new that I hadn't tried. I got in, just had to make a modification to a crowbar so it had a finger to operate the lock. Now to go get another set of keys...

I'm sure if he was really interested in breaking into a firebird that wasn't his, he wouldn't be asking how to do it without damaging the car. Smashing the window seems like an easier route to go. It's not like he's asking how to bypass the VATS or anything.

He doesn't have to...it's already online. Want to do the search for him?

Ruffnek, maybe you really are the legitimate owner and just too cheap to spend $15 to keep from risking damage to a special edition Firehawk. But with no history and your first post asking for an easy way into the car, you must admit that looks suspicious.

I will let you two go back to patting each other on the back now.

that kit is awesome, I used to work for a roadside assistance company, and could get in any car in about 30 secs.

Right because a crook would come to a forum to ask how to steal a car...

Glad you got into YOUR car, OP. I'd be the same way as you if I had a 'Hawk or a CETA, keep it bone stock, clean and perfect!

This reminds me years ago, a guy signed up and his first post (and last) was asking how to open the hood of a "WS6" from the outside.
