Default For those with the Katech 427

I am looking into the Katech 427 setup and would appreciate any help you guys could provide. What sorts of power gains are you guys seeing on the LS6 427? Do they provide a new tune for you right off the bat? How much did it cost all said and done? Do they ask you to send your engine in first, is it a crate engine, or do they do a core charge? Ultimately, I'd love to slap a maggie on there so I'd be lowering the compression but what would the kit make if I bought it straight up? This damn car is too slow stock lol

FWIW, I think you'd be better off selling yours outright and then just get a V2.

The baseline on a V2 is so much higher, you'd have to invest more than 25k into your car to get it to that.

I'm guessing the katech kits are well over 15-20k...

I didn't think the LS1/6 motors could be turned into a 427 safely.

They can be with enough cash. You would have to punch it out and sleeve the block.

There's no way I could afford a V2 right now. The insurance would destroy me. Thanks for the input guys, I'll probably end up going Maggie then

Really? My insurance will actually go down by $9/month when I get a V2.

Are you serious? How is that possible?

If I can find a used V2 somewhere nearby then I'll ask my insurance to run the VIN and see what I'll be paying

I have USAA. Shouldn't you be able to do your own quotes online? If I am curious of what a car would run in insurance I just get online and do a quick quote using the same policy numbers as I currently have. It literally takes 2 minutes.

Give me a call. We're making some revisions to the product line that we should talk about. Engines are new and there is no core.

More like in the neighborhood of $12k for the long block.

I was guessing 15-20k for a complete kit, not just the motor. I'm guessing you wouldn't just put a long block in and swap all your old components! Might as well do headers/clutch/etc.. boom 15-20k...

Already have headers/exhaust for really cheap...I know a guy. I will need a clutch and axles, though.
