Default **Paging Nine Ball and Steve1969LS1

I saw your post about going with a charcoal grey on the rallye's. I really like that idea, thanks alot.

Do you know if I have to take the outer ring off the wheel before I take them in for powder coat? I've never taken apart a rallye wheel before, have you? I'll have to look at that. If it's going to be a pain in the ****, I might just tape the chrome off (like I did last time) and paint them charcoal grey metallic. What do you think?

Any tips on what kind of paint to use?

Thanks for the help,
Jon

Eastwood to the right sells all kinds of wheel refinishing supplies, prep supplies, paint, etc.

Don't those rings just pop off on the Rallyes? I think I saw that they pop off, if not, they can mask that area off, sand blast and powder coat.

They can mask off, and sand blast without damaging the chrome? You think? That's crazy.
I'll have to check into it more. Thanks for the info on Eastwood. I'll check that out too.

This stuff looks promising:

Wonder if it's a gloss finish though. I'd have to see it first...
Thanks for the help CANNIBAL.

why not powder paint?? does the chrome trim ring not come off??

Bring them over Jon and we will mask them off and paint them.. or you can smear bearing grease on the parts not to be painted.. paint the whole thing and wipe off the grease when its done

For charcoal i use duplicolor high temp "cast iron" spray paint..

Those chrome rings should pop off like hubcaps, unless they are machined from the wheel itself. I use those Duplicolors also, they seem to work well.

Well, the wheels are from Wheel Vintiques, and I'd think that the outer chrome ring could pull off. I'll check when they come in.
So steve, High Temp Cast Iron from duplicolor is charcoal grey mettalic looking?

Yep, but i would high temp clear over it to make it shiny as the cast iron color is more satin.. would make cleaning easier also..

Find that issue of Super Chevy yet?

Oh, radiator??
