i get most of my information 95% of the time from searching, but thought i would introduce myself anyway.
i'm daniel, 31yrs. i was a diesel machanic in the navy '99-'03, i'm now a machinist for 7 yrs. (machine anything and everything oilfield)
i've had my '01 silverado for 5 1/2 yrs now. it's been completely stock until this past october when i decided to turn it into a hobby.
i first started on giving the body a complete make over, i suppose i did the caddy taillight conversion for the challenge, and i doubt i will do that again. but who knows. shaved tailgate, 3rd brake light, and stake holes. i did all the body work in my garage with a 25 gallon compressor and a lincoln 100 electric welder (it was tough not using a gas welder, but the welds held strong) i even painted it in my garage. i completed the body about 3 weeks ago, then i started on the performance.
i started off with cai, then an auburn posi w/4.10's. last week i put on some hooker super comp LT's and the exhaust shop put in an X pipe and 2 spintech 6000 series mufflers, and then got a custom tune.
May 13th '11 i'm buying dual electric fans and radiator.
May 15th i'm ordering LS6 or stage 2.5 5.3L heads, tsp220 cam, LS6 oil pump, double timing chain package.
the following week will be underdrive pulleys.

thanks guys. my sister bought an 09 g8 and she smoked me. i didn't even stand a chance. i told her to give me 3 months, there is no way my younger sister is having a faster car than i. hopefully i can get enough power out of this 5.3L.
i'm not in norman much, but randomly. see you around.
