Checked my lid today and noticed the epoxy around the neck area on the left side has broken off completely on the inside. It apparently got real brittle and just broke off. Now the lid is separated at the seam and I don't know what to do. Do I try to re-epoxy that area or notify TSP? Guys with this lid might want to check this out as a precaution. I'm glad I still have my maf screen in place. Also, I am using nothing that would crack the lid at all...no fernco...only the stock bellows and nothing too tight.

I would contact TSP. I dunno if they're the same, buy my SLP lid has a lifetime warranty. Seems like they would have something

Technically yes...the clamp should hold everything together...however...whos to say the split won't continue down the lid and the other parts that are epoxied together fail as well???

Same thing happened to mine, the clamp is holding it down fine for now so we'll see how it goes.

Same thing happend to me. Putting the MAF on the lid really puts alot of stress on the seams. If you are not gentle it will crack. Called TSP up and they were happy to warrenty it. To hold me over in the meantime I used Black rubber sealer all around the crack and it worked great. Let it dry over night and you couldn't even tell. I think it actually may have been better than the epoxy because it was allowed to flex. I am thinking about using it as double reinforcement on the new one. Good Luck

I'm sure the boys at TSP will take care of you. Give us an update when you hear back from them.

In the future, I suggest calling a sponsor (who ever it may be) before you make a post like this. This thread hasn't gotten off track or out of hand, but many like this do.

Well, I have no doubt that TSP would/will stand behind their product. Thats why I always order from them...I have a set of pacesetters on order as we speak. However, when I noticed this prob, it was after their business hours so I couldn't just pick up the phone and call...so I came here. I was trying to post this more of a caution than complaining or bashing a sponsor...which I would never do.

I'm glad this thread hasn't gotten out of hand as that was never my intention...if it does however, I will request it to be locked.

I will update as I hear from them!

Your post wasn't out of line, and I didn't think you were trying to bash them. But the title may have looked inviting to "bashers". I (we) appreciate a "heads up" on whatever the case may be. All lids have had this problem at one time or another. It is somewhat the nature of the beast (though it shouldn't be). Thanks.

I installed a direct-flo lid a couple of weeks ago and it also split at the seam. The parts were at room temperature, but the neck was too small to receive the MAF housing. I applied silicon sealer on the split and wrapped with black electrical tape. It does the job, and is not noticeable unless you look real close. I wasn't real happy about it and emailed them, but have not seen a response yet.

all lids don't have this problem.

some are better built than others, mine won't have a seam fail, as there are no seams on the slp blackwing lid
