Default trans mount shot. question about polly mount

so here is a pic of my shot trans mount:

everyones telling me to get polly mount but i heard that this will cause vibrations and i want to avoid that since this is my daily driver and the clunks making from the shot trans mount and TQ arm bushings are already driving me nuts.

so is there a solution to the vibrations ? certain brand? or does the mount have to be modified? any help would be great i have to get this fixed ASAP.

Mine doesn't really vibrate much at all. I'd say go with one, but if its that important to have none at all you could just go rubber.

Minimal at best and under load. Other than that it drives fine. It's the poly motor mounts that shakes things up.

I've had mine for years and it hasn't broke yet even when I had a big stall. The vibration isn't that bad and after a while it even calmed down a bit. I would say go with it.

If you want to minimize the vibration of a poly trans mount, pick up an energy suspension mount. They come with a plate that goes between the mount and the transmission. Leave that plate out and it won't preload the mount as much. This will help reduce the vibration that the stiffer mount will transfer.

I personally love poly bushings and mounts for my cars. They are soft enough to not give tons of vibration but firm enough to stiffen everything enough making the car feel much more solid. I had a Celica GT-S autocross car and by just doing energy suspension bushings and mounts all around the car felt so amazing through tight corners. A little extra vibration at idle is no big deal after you get used to it which only takes about a week.

^^^^^^ x2

Honestly, I'll bet that you won't even be able to tell the difference from poly or rubber. You're only changing out 1 mount. I've got all poly mounts, and it's fine.

Talking about an autocross car is irrelevant to this thread. No ******* way would I want poly **** all over my car, and most would agree. What you are willing to get used to is different for everyone.

yea polly vibrates and **** but i havnt had to change it out in 5 years of abuse. the stock one ripped easily at stock power level... One other option is to relocate the torque arm off the trans with a relo cross member and put a rubber mount on the trans and the poly mount on the torque arm. The poly mount for the torque arm seems pretty soft. Taking the stress of the torque arm off of the trans mount should help a rubber mount to survive.

I just installed poly motor mounts, stock rubber trans mount, and stock rubber torque arm bushing. I decided to do this from all the research I did a couple days ago. I wanted my mounts untill this motor goes so I got poly. I didnt want vibrations or didnt want trans tail housing to bust so I went with rubber there. Then rubber on torque arm for same reason on trans. I feel better that the motor has a stout solid feeling and trans/ta mounts have some give. Hope that helps some.

so most likely going with a rubber mount just have to find where to get one. but is it ok to use a poly TA bushing in stock location or only with the relocation kit?

the Prothane poly mount is good. Initially you will notice a SLIGHT difference in vibration, but nothing ridiculous that you won't eventually forget about in a couple of days. Mines in a trex cammed with LTs, and it's impressively smooth.

I have rubber motor mount; countless street and track action with zero issues.
