Default Results from weight reduction. 12.0xx

Back when I did this https://ls1tech.com/forums/12-second...my-ss3600.html the DA was -1124 and car was full weight.
Tonight the DA was 616, 560, 503, and -17 for the 4 passes that I hooked. With the weight reduction https://ls1tech.com/forums/drag-raci...ts-inside.html times improved just a little even in worse DA. The car is without a doubt faster. 60's were better.

Heres the slip from full weight car in -1124 DA

Heres the best slip from tonight same car with weight reduction 503 DA

The other 3 slips were pretty much the same. All high 1.6xx 60's, all 12.0xxs, and all 111.x mph.
I was kinda suprised I did not get a 11 sec slip with the last pass but for whatever reason the times were just about the same through the whole night reguardless of DA.

I'm trying to figure out here how I trap 111mph w/ a stock converter and the same mods as you, and you have a 3600 stall? I see your going 12.0 and i'm still doing 12.5, it's just weird to me. Could it be that my car is 200# lighter than yours? Just curious

You have an eleven second car. Just keep at it and you get to the eleven. Several years ago I kept running in the 12.00 to 12.05 area and thought I would never make that eleven. The first time I ran eleven it was 11.90 in very good weather. Therefore you are knocking on the door and don't give up. My best time with internal engine and bolton's is 11.691 ran a couple of weeks ago. Keep on going........

Just some stats...
My best with stock converter is 12.6 @ 110 full weight.
With addition of a stall I gained 2mph and went 12.0. These were very close DA so its easy to compair.
Now I did the weight reduction and still did 12.0 @111 but the DA was much higher. I probably would have done 12.2 if I didnt do weight reduction.

Im not sure what your question is phil. Your 12.5 111mph stock stall to my 12.6 110 mph stock stall is very close. We would have to look at the DA of your runs and compair stats I believe. As for your car being lighter yes I can say it is after seeing your thread.

Nah its alright I know I could of had 11s if I did the weight reduction before the first pass of the year. Im pretty happy the car is doing 12.0s in 1700 higher DA after weight reduction. Weight reduction probably netted 2-3 tenths. One other thing I never mentioned is that the first pass of the year I was running hoosiers which are 8lbs lighter a piece than these mickey thompsons I am running now. Maybe I should get more hoosiers for the track. If anything I can go up in fall and probably run 11.8-11.9 as is.
Over all I think the times my car is pulling off are pretty good for the mods and stall. Minor boltons, 3600 stall, stock 3.23s, 275 17 wheels all the way around...12.0s not bad imo. Oh and yes suspension time!

You still runnin stock maf, it might help a bit to upgrade, but you will need a new tune. And some 3.73's or even 3.42's will keep you in your power band more, not really sure if you will gain et from it tho. You can run it with the belt off one run lol and it might pick up a little because i did not see underdrive pulley on your list of mods. Other than that, intake manifold and weight reduction.

Its an aftermarket maf that came on the car. IDK what it is but Don@Slowhawk said it was lean up top or something. I dont plan on changing it unless it goes bad.
As for gears I plan on staying with the 3.23s until they break or I upgrade the rear.
You are correct, no pulley. I plan on a pulley, ported tb, and ported ls6 oil pump when I do a cam (maybe heads also).
The stock ls6 intake I dont really think is worth coming off. I dont think ill be making enough power to really see to much of a gain if any?
Before the I do a cam though I do plan on upgrading my exhaust to bigger headers to a 4' through to catback.
And weight reduction, im looking into a vfn 3" ss hood, racing seat, and maybe lightweight battery if I decide its worth it.
So thats the outlook for the car at the moment with the weight reduction being the moments priority
Oh and suspension I am still learning about so throw that in the mix as well

Pulley won't gain much of anything, the best way to tell is to just run it with the belt off and see if there is any gain, that should tell you if you will gain anything from getting one. Yeah the fast intake is very expensive lol, if you found a good deal on a used one then go for it. The gains are really hard to justify for the price new. I got a 9 pound braille battery in mine, but i only use it for race days so i don't wear it out. 40 pound optima vs 9 pound braille = , i can tell the alternator is working harder tho. I would try to make the exhaust lighter for one, i did not realize mine weighed so much till i took it off. It was mostly steel, i will have to weigh it one day(stock center mount). Just get some lighter parts and don't skimp on sound quality.
