Brake light help
I have a problem with my tail lights. When the headlights are off my brake lights work fine, but when my headlights are on the brake lights dont work just the third break light does. I got the right bulbs that the autostore book says but I thought I remember reading somewhere that it's not 100% accurate.

Still need some help on this, the bulb is a 2057. I was able to get one on the drivers side closet to the reverse light to light up. But the other ones will work with the headlights off but with the headlights on none of them work

to be honest I have no Idea. but I did get the same bulb on the passenger to work. But the other two center ones with no luck. One thing I also noticed is that on bulb when just the the lights on (no brakes) lights up with a different fillament sp? then the other 3.
Its a weird problem that I cant figure out what would cause this.

Im still having problems with the brake lights not working with the headlights on, anyone else with suggestions? Does the headlight switch have anything to do with the break lights functioning?
Also it seems that the brake and tail lights try to use the same fillament if that makes since. Only one fillement works and the other doesnt.

here is a little video that I took showing what happens. First shows it with the headlights on, the bulb is light up until i hit the brakes. Second shows with the headlights off the bulb is not light up until I hit the brakes. you can see only one filiment lights up.

Did you trace the wires? If you put an electrical tester on the bulb contacts, you can rule out the bulbs. Take out all bulbs before testing. If both contacts get power and you are only seeing one filament light up, then something is wrong with the bulbs.
If the tester shows only one contact energized, you'll need to trace the wires back through the car. The next spot to test is the harness connector under the hatch, 6-12" from where the wires go in to the car.

I checked the wires today and both contacts are getting 12v with the car off headlights on. What I did find out though is if I take a piece of wire and ground it to the metal casing of the bulb both lights will brighten up and start working. This tells me Im getting a bad ground, so I cleaned the ground connector by the trunk latch and still the same. Looks like the bad ground is in the socket itself or a bad wiring. since this is happening on 3 bulb sockets does anyone sell a complete tail light harness?
also is it normal on the passengers side when I take out 1 bulb the whole pass side lights go out? Kinda like a christmas tree lights if 1 goes out they all go out?

You probably have a short somewhere. One contact should be hot with the lights on and the other should come on with the brake. If you unplug the rear harness at the connector a couple inches forward of the ground screw then you can test the wires there and isolate the problem.
Actually... Before you do that, you should retest the sockets with all the bulbs out. One of the bulbs could be the source of the short.
