Hell, I don't care if it was 20 hp....no way would I ever remove my AC.
And even with it running, I never notice a difference in power. IMO it's a much bigger issue on 4cyl cars with no torque.
I hear about people losing 4 or 5 mpg by running the AC in econo cars, I don't think I notice a diff over 1mpg or so in the Bird.

Its a couple HP at the most, so If you use your AC at all its really not worth it. Although the car will rev slightly faster without A/C. As stated above most people remove it for weight reduction and to clean up the engine bay, not for power

My AC clutch squealed really bad when I got my 01 camaro and after one set of plugs installed with all of that in the way... I decided to yank mine out. Engine bay is totally different without it. Plus if you do the airbox cut, when you don't have an AC condenser in there, you get a TON of airflow. I live in Arkansas and its been consistent mid 80's/90's and I've been fine. It does get pretty warm if you get stuck at too many red lights though...

I used to almost never use my ac up until a couple years ago. I'm either getting old, or global warming is kicking the **** outta me.
with that said, if this car becomes a dedicated weekend fun car, ac will be the first thing out. less weight and more room, win win situation.

Another thing to look at is that in total the A/C system only weighs 45 lbs. So if 100 lbs is roughly equally to a tenth in the quarter. Your looking at less then half a tenth of a second. So unless your really into drag racing not really worth it IMO

Personal tolerances are fine and all but lets be real here. NO self respectable woman is gonna want to ride in your **** when its hot as hell in it. She don't give a damn how fast it is when she is sweatin all of her make-up off. So to all the young players out there, it ain't cool to sweat your *** off Eliminating the AC guarantees you are stuck riding with dudes all the time

Not true. Back in the eighties, there were plenty of cars without A/C. And there were plenty of chicks willing to cruise around in without A/C-and most of them knew at least a few things about cars. Most girls today don't know the difference between a Honda and a Camaro.
And-I swear-I've been asked in parking garages in NYC what kind of car a Pontiac is.
