Two reasons ... I did not want to scar up my front subframe or my SFC's and I did not like the way the stands fit under the subframe/SFC's. As an afterthought, it gave me 1-1/2" more height for the installation as well.

Use a rag if your worried. You can use the spot where the LCA meets the body so as long as you leave the LCA in place to keep it stable. The LCA if the jack is positioned correctly will move down a good bit. Or use the factory points.
Biggest thing you should have is a helper so 2 hands are better then one. One for the jack, one for the rear. Make sure you un hook the ABS sensor either at the end of the axle (4 channel w/ TCS/ASR) or 3 Channel @ the top of the diff (no Trac control).

It could easily be done in a looooong day or a weekend. It took me several weekends because I did not work on it continuously every weekend. I took time researching the install to death, prepping and coating the rear, modifying my motorcycle lift to work with the rear, massaged my fender wells and bump stops to fit the 315's/11's, added full Spohn rear suspension parts, etc., etc. Basically, I took my time!

I swapped mine in about 2 weekends. The last day I had a Big buddy of mine come help me to get the rear under the car and into place. Once you get started it is pretty straight forward. I highly recommend a trans jack when installing the bigger rear.
