stroker problems
alright im havin a tough go at this one. cant figure this one out. hopefully someone can help.
well here is the deal, it is backfiring, and i cant figure out for the life me. it seems to do it more when the car is hot and the temp outside is high however it still does it when its cooler (just not as often). also something i have noticed is the car surges. starting at about 1000 rpm to 2000 rpm it surges and that is where the prob seems to be coming from. once it surges it starts poppin. but it does not do this constatly. there are days i drive it for a 20miles and have no problems.
any ideas guys? it has msd and a new opti along with msd 8mm wires. i have tried toying with the fuel pressure also with no results. any ideas guys? cuz im out.

I think it's either valve or ignition timing is off. Start simple and double check all your plug wires to make sure they are routed correctly. Check your plugs to make sure they aren't fouled and make sure your valves are adjusted correctly.

Mine backfired before my opti went out. Also had other weird symptoms as well, but I kept driving it. Then it just died on me and started back up. Did that a few times and then didn't start back up. Got it home, swapped opti's and back to normal.
So I would say the opti is a possibility. Backfiring is usually a timing / ignition problem and it could be a number of things.

see thats my exact problem. i know what COULD cause the backfire, only problem is WHAT is causing it. awww the joys of cars hahaha. but all the wires seem fine, and the opti is fairly new i believe. could the coil be part of it also?
