91 trans am vs 2011 370Z **VID**
Me and my brother went out with a new freind of ours with a brand new nissan 370Z to play a little. We actually weren't expecting to do as well since his carb isn't tuned to the new motor yet, but these 370's trap around 105mph in the 1/4, so I think the outcome was good for an untuned chevy 350! Trans am has a 350 with heads, cam, holley 750, T56, and 4.10's. 370Z was a stock 6 speed manual car. Heres the vid...
I started recording late so the race starts out on the 2nd beep but the 370 was beeping.

Yea they crank pretty good, especially the 370z. World of a difference over the 350z. He's got a few parts for it already that he just hasn't put on yet as well (catback, intake). They are supposed to respond very well to mods so I guess I got my hands full! Time to squeeze out some more power

BTW you do not refer to dialing in a carb as "Tuning". Tuning is done on EFI cars. You dial in non EFI carburated, distributor equiped cars. And dialing in also requires the mechanical and vacuum advances to be set properly also. Good ballpark on stock based heads would be 10 deg initial, 34 total. On good quality aluminum heads you can go with 8 initial and 30-32 total depending on what the dyno likes best.

They respond poorly to mods. Don't be surprised if he puts that intake and catback on and you have the exact same results.

Look at the 370z that this local shop dynoed and tuned. With just a high flow exhaust, intake, and tune, they picked up 42whp. I'd say that's pretty responsive. They are nothing like the 350Zs.
And sorry, but I have to "Dial In" the carb and timing. The engine has not been together for very long, so I'm still playing around with different settings. I'll be getting a wideband for starters to see where I'm at. Thanks for the info
