Spec Clutch install Pics, Video and weight of parts!
So I did a little reading on here on installing the LS7 clutch and I was pretty sold on the idea. Then I started thinking want about a good clutch that's even lighter then the LS7 even with a light weight flywheel.. So I went with the Spec clutch with the light weight flywheel and lighter billet aluminum pressure plate. I was trying to really free up some spun-weight, because people on here keep saying how heavy the factory dual mass clutch is. We have a shipping scale at work, so right when I got the clutch I checked the weight including all the bolts they sent for the flywheel and pressure plate, it was only 33.4 pounds! Then I removed the stock flywheel and I do a lot of diesel work, so I felt like I was removing a flywheel from a manual Dodge Cumming! In fact I truly be think it's even heavier! I put all the stock components on the scale and it was 79.8 pounds! That's a weight savings of almost 50 pounds! I also took some videos on how much easier the car revs up. The clutch feels Awesome! I also did the C6 slave, polyurethane trans and diff mounts.
Sorry give the first video a minute, because I was at the shop my self that night so I had to walk over to the car.
After clutch install. The biggest change was how fast the engine would spin back down!

No didn't need the spacer, but when I did match them up to make sure the C6 slave would come as close to the pressure plate as the stock one with the spacer I did end up using one of the shims that come with the LS1 stage 3 clutches to bring it up just a little. I'm guessing the LS7 pressure plate comes a little more back then the Spec?

Yea I hope so! The only reason I went to them is because it worked so well on my stroked LT1 with 300 hit. Put 25,000 miles on the clutch and did countless 300 shot 5,500 rpm 1.4 60 foot hole shots and never had a problem. The one I had on the car was even underrated for the 1,050 foot pounds of toque I was pushing out that old 1995 beater! What happened with yours??

Well the specs were locking out at high RPM, this happened to at least three of us, and even after swapping them for a new one. I couldnt shift at all at high RPM, town driving slow no problem, try to bang some gears, not happening.
They claimed hydrolic issue but after finally going with another clutch all of our shifting issues disappeared....
Good luck

I'm using a Stage 2 ACT setup on my blown miata, and it's been a damned good clutch setup, and hasn't let me down yet. Autocrossing or street driving.
