Default Oil pressure reading?

I just finished installing a ltcc ignition system on my car and I noticed my oil pressure reading is pegged over 80. I also noticed a SES light came on and when I tried to read the code the code reader would not work, but it works fine on my other vehicle. What could cause these two problems? I noticed there was a black ground going to the Icm that is not used in the ltcc ignition system so I just taped it off; should that ground be connected to the body?

start with the obvious, is your oil pressure sending unit broken?

No I don't think so it was working a few weeks ago and it is only a year old or so. Where does the wire going to the plug connect to dose it have anything to do with the ltcc system.

Looks like it runs to the c220 plug inside the car on the passenger side. I did install the harness, I could have failed to connect this plug; that's something I am going to have to look into. It has to be connected though because it also has the fuel pump relay control on it and the car runs.

i cant remember if unplugging the oil sending unit maxes the gauge out or zeros it out. check the plug and wire and like you said check where it goes into the cab (c220). the black wire your talking about, was it the on in the factory icm plug? if so, that was only the ground for the icm and can be left tapped back.

^ Yep it was part of the icm plug I figured it could be left alone.

It is plugged in correctly but I have no signal also I can not read the ses light. I think these two problems are related some how but I have not figured it out yet.

Still can not read the ses light and my oil pressure is not reading. Any other ideas? One other thing I noticed is the c230 plug on my 96 a4 harness is not the same as the harness inside the car on my 97 m6 car. I figured out how to wire up every incorrect wire except for the pink wire from the engine senor Fuse #10 there is no pink wire on the c230 plug inside the car. Where is the pink wire on pin g of the c230 plug supposed to connect from the engine and trans harness? http://shbox.com/1/harness_connector_faces.htm

Oil pressure is fixed; I had a bad wire so I soldered in a new wire and plug off of a old harness, but I have 70psi of pressure on first start up. I also fixed the ses scanning problem, for some reason I had no power going to the orange wire where the scanner plugs in; I wired in 12v switched power and I can read the codes now. P0118 is what I have reading.
