Default Bosch oxygen sensors bad after a year?

Both of my bosch sensors (13111) get lazy and throw the insufficient code. I installed LT headers 2 yrs ago, with new sensors. Left side threw a code late that season, replaced it. Right side threw the code last year, replaced it. Now the left side is doing the same thing. It scans great for the first 10-15 minutes then starts to get lazy. Im tired of replacing one a year, its not my dd and I drive at most 6k miles per year. So this leaves me wondering, is there an alternate brand that performs better?

IMO its not the o2s. I used all kinds and ended up with the same result. Also you should feel lucky it takes a year for yours to go bad. After headers, I was replacing mine every month or 2 until I got a proper tune. Problem solved.
If you dont have a tune from a well known tuner then get one.

I tuned it myself. Richest it gets is 11.0 afr on nitrous and doesnt get any leaner than 15.0, other than DFCO. I suppose during tuning could have stressed them.

My tuner always installs a wide-band O2 sensor when tuning.

I found these pages to help diagnose a bad o2 sensor last weekend:

http://www.ls2.com/boggs/dtcs/DTC%20P1153.htm
http://mr2.com/TEXT/O2_Sensor.html

Hope it helps.

Well, im not a tuner but iv read that messing with the switching values (or something like this) of the o2s makes them osscillate how they need to so you dont get the lazy slow switching codes?
I used to get all those codes with my long tubes after every kind of o2 and the only fix for me was a tune at Slowhawk performance. Don is the man.

I have read some threads in the hptuners forum about changing those values, my car is cam only and most of the cars in those threads are heavily modded so I didnt think I really needed to worry about it. I will revisit that topic again.

When the SES light is on, the pcm trims more fuel and runs less spark. MPG's and power suffers a bit.

i honestly would try gm sensors. i can't guarantee this will solve your problem, but i never had any issues with my cam's using gm sensors. the only issue that i had was misfire codes. so, those tables needed adjusted accordingly.

I would say Denso. My Bosch burned out in no time too, and that is what I'm going to try.

In general, WOT is essentially open loop. O2 sensors are ignored. But, if the SES light is on, no matter what the problem is, the pcm will command increased fuel trims and low spark table at all times. I don't know auto trans tuning that well but I think some of those settings revert to limp mode too. A couple degrees of spark and some trimming isn't going to be that noticeable on the street. Dyno or ET numbers would show a split.

Denso sensors everyone.......DENSO. The best 02 sensor ever designed.

These are the sensors that GM puts into their AC Delco boxes now, been doing this for 3 years. But if you buy them at a dealership you will pay upwards of $180 per sensor. They cost $45.00 at rockauto.com and on Amazon.

SAME EXACT SENSOR.

STOP USING BOSCH sensors....for christ sake. Yea, sometimes they are ok...but they suck over-all.

This was the post I was looking for. Like I said above, I was/am in a pinch to road trip it to the track this weekend and the local parts store only had bosch.

my bosch sensors went bad after a year, the densos are great sensors I installed a set and could immediately see how fast they switched compared to another new bosch sensor I had. The densos have been great to me but ngk also makes a good sensor from what i hear

Rockauto.com..........Denso 02 sensors are now $32.00 each. Get the #2344087 part number. They work in any position. The only reason 02 sensors have different part numbers is because of the length of the wires, the sensors are 100% identical. I just buy these and zip tie the extra wire to the frame of the car.
