Default 4th gen Camaro stock axle shaft replacement.

Hello everyone, im alil new to the forums. I just picked up a a 94 z28 with an LT1. Its bone stock for the most part. The motor was swapped out with another LT1 and the top end rebuilt with a LT4. I need to replace the driver side axle shaft cuz its bent ever so slightly but enough that the rotor is hitting the caliper housing. Im not trying to take the cheap way out not by a long shot but i want to quick fix this so i can move on to other things and enjoy driving it around. Iv checked with a few junk yards and no one seems to have any axle shafts available but can order a new one ranging between 120-150$. I checked on summit and i see replacements for 80$ by alloy, my friend says dont get alloy they arnt that great. The only other option would be getting a pair for between 215-250$. Im thrown off abit with the "Ring Gear Diameter" I see most at 7.625 while the replacement is 7.5. Idk what one i should get. would i be better off playing my cards with a new pair vs getting one replacement? Im aware the 10 bolts arnt amazing but this ones not showing any signs atm or making any noises that i can hear.

Added info the car is a semi DD, i plan to get most the suspension and frame support done first. I would love to get a new rear end but not anytime soon. The car was Guessed at 310-325 hp atm. The Car its self has 180k miles on it, i think the rear has the same.

Any and all help would be very much appreciated.

I have a pair of stock axles in my shed, but they are from my 2001 and are for a 4 channel ABS car, I don't know if they would work for you or not. Post a WTB in the classifieds section, I bet there has to be someone who swapped in a 12 bolt, s60, or 9" that just has the stock stuff laying around.

yeah the 4 channel has a spot for the ABS reluctor ring, I took the rings off and had them pressed on the axles on my MWC 9". I would assume they would work in a 3 channel rear end but I don't know for sure.

7.5 axle 28 spline same as 7.625 axle 28 spline BUT
94 thru 97 3 channel axle is GM # 26063146,98 thru 02 3 channel axle is GM # 26059962.
don't know why the difference, maybe someone can post up.

Well i happen to come across a guy who was cleaning him garage out on Craigslist and i noticed "Firebired rear end parts" on his post. So i called him up and guess what. He had a set of very good condition Axle shafts out of a 95 firebird 28 spline 3channel. He took 25$ for them both!

hopfully this weekend i can get these popped in. What Should i do for gear oil? The rear end has posi and i was looking around and came across 2 diff suggestion. 90w w/ additive OR 90w synthetic without.

What differential do you have? If it's a auburn DO NOT use synthetic, use 80/90 and GM additive. If it's a torsen use what ever you want.

I'm not even sure if LT1 camaros came with torsens, it's probably a auburn.

Sweet. Also is there any benefit for using synthetic or dos that just save u from getting an extra bottle of additive? If so ill just go 80/90 w/ additive so i can do it all at once vs find out and running down to the store all greasy ha. And thanxs for the help again.

I'd just run conventional with the GM additive. and everyone I have seen who uses synthetic still uses the GM additive.
