Default 06 GTO vs 392 hemi challenger

not my kill but impressive never the less...went home to Jersey to visit for the weekend. my buddy has an '06 goat that he recently put a magnacharger on...462hp to the wheels. we're driving home saturday when we get behind a brand new 392 challenger srt-8...even had temp tags. we come up on 2 lanes and before we can pull up alongside them...they stab it! my buddy downshifts and proceeds to blow by this thing like it was a damn moped...i mean ABSOLUTELY tore it a new one...needless to say i was completely impressed. i knew he'd take it but, i had no idea he would just totally rape it like that. that car has torque and hp all over the place..very, very impressive car.

Those things are making 420 to wheels in stock trim. Power is not the problem.

Now the weight on the other hand is..eh, well not so great. Even then they move out quite well.

Theyre not much heavier than the GTO from what i've heard. Maybe 400 lbs i believe? Mid 12's in a 4300+ lb car is pretty decent for stock id say. Good kill either way.

Funny I keep seeing comments like this one yet, I have seen multiple stock 392's go mid to high 12's @ both of my local tracks. Some people can't fathom the idea that HP/TQ can offset vehicle weight.

I would imagine a lot of the people talking about how heavy it is, aren't just complaining about straight-line performance. Weight affects everything.

I've driven my aunt's older SRT8 Challenger and there is more to driving one than just speed.

I would take one over a GTO any day (not that I dislike GTOs) due to the look, sound, feel, and just the way they drive. They are very nice cars.

Um...no. I'm pretty sure everyone here in the "Street Racing" forum is speaking in terms of straight line acceleration. Well, everyone except you I guess.

I still like em, even though they are slow heavy and overpriced, the challenger is a kool car to me.
