Default Great VIN decoder site, useful info

Stumbled across this site from someone's post on here. I have been wondering for a long time what gears my car has. Since it's a Z28 and not the SS, and also the automatic, and not a 6 speed manual, I always sorta guessed I had the 2.73 gears, but wanted to make sure. It confirmed my car does have the 2.73's, and a lot more.

This site allows you to do just that and see all the other factory options your car came with, pretty handy if you ask me. Enjoy learning about your car.

Yep, that site has been pretty common knowledge around here for quite a while.

Ha, sorry, I just found it yesterday and it was really helpful to me.

Should have posted this in the Newb section I guess.

That's odd. I just stumbled across this site yesterday, so I don't fully understand it. Entered my VIN at about 10PM last night, results came up right away.

I guess try it again later tonight, or maybe tomorrow? Seems weird though, sorry.

There are 1 1998 CAMARO 2 DR vehicles (0.002%) matching your exact options list. There are 2 (0.004%) with at least as many options.

sweet rare as eff

You have an A4 Z28 but you got the 3.23 gears!? I wonder why I got the 2.73's. Oh well, I bet I get better highway mileage!

My 98 z had 273 gears. Which I change to 342's.

Because someone didn't pay the extra $300 that was required when checking off the GU5 (3.23) code on the order form.

No need to worry now, just get a bigger stall and forget about the gears.

The "your car is 1 of xxxx" is a bit off. When you break it down like that site does, every car is rare.

Like posted above, I find it hard to believe that my car is the ONLY 2001 Camaro in existence with my exact options. However, I wouldn't totally rule it out considering the spectrum of changeable options. With all the engine, gearing, trans, interior type / color, radio, etc. options out there I think it could be possible that my car is the only one like it. Even if it is unlikely.

It's even more likely since it's a 2001. They stopped the production of the 2001 models early so they could take more time on producing the 35th anniversary edition 2002 models. This resulted in 2001 being the lowest production level of Camaro in history. Less than 30,000 were produced in 2001.
