Awd lsx

Awd lsx
Got an idea to have an quick AWD street vehicle. Get an AMC Eagle (they are AWD) and have a turbocharged LSX motor put in. The AWD drivetrain would have to be seriously beefed up. One major problem is the car would need to be registered in Calif but Eagles were not made until 1979. To be smog exempt in Calif, the vehicle would need to be 1975 or older. AMC Hornets are pre-1976 and they are very similar to Eagles. Not sure how to work this out but AWD on the street is serously quick off the line and very safe compared to RWD when dealing with very high horsepower.

It needs to be 1975 or older to be smog exempt in Calif. That way in can have a turbo with some crazy power. Plus, that thing would be a real sleeper. It would probably surprise a few bikes too.

I've been thinking about an awd lsx lately too, I vote for the caddy. I think that would be sweet. Another option may be to get an old 4x4 chevy LUV truck and convert it to awd...? not really sure what if any changes would need to be made

It would be nice if the weight of the vehicle could be kept well below 4,000 lbs including the V8, turbos and AWD system. The AMC Eagle would be great but it's too new to be smog exempt.
