Not sure but if your boring the block, you can bore it to make a 346 and then use off the shelf pistons and gain some cubes.

i didn't want to bore the block but i have looked into boring it out to a 346..i would like to keep the meat in the cylinders if i can find some pistons..if not i guess i will see how far the stock pistons will take me.......Bob

Wiseco makes forged 5.3L pistons. Even stroker 5.3L (3.78/3.8 bore 4" stroke) pistons.

I'm betting Wiseco makes a piston that will be fine with stock heads. What static c/r are you shooting for?

Default compression

their catalog shows anywhere from 10.25 to 10.4 with a 61cc head. i am thinking with a 71cc head like the 317's i should be around 9.0 which should be perfect for some high boost. i would leave it stock on the bottom but i would like to get a little more rpm out of the motor. that's why i want a good set of rods and pistons..i would like to rev it to 7k if needed from time to time..i figured with an 88 it should be a fun ride thanks Bob

I rev my stock rod/piston short block to 7k every pass at the track. It has mellings hv oil pump and clevite77 rod bearings and arp rod bolts. It made 665rwhp 582ftlbs @15psi on a 76mm Turbo. Heads have never been off the block.
