Does meth go bad?
Had a full tank in my car all winter long and whatever's passed of this summer. Should I empty the tank and refill it with new fresh stuff? Thanks!

+1 My dad used to own a 4 car sprintcar team and we would never use "last seasons meth" because it would draw so much moisture but you can usually tell if it has moisture in it because it will be cloudy. jeff

I'm not saying it didn't absorb moisture, because it most definitely will do that, but I'm just saying that being cloudy is a sign of other issues than just absorbing moisture. Most likely, air caused the inside of the drum to oxidize, and the methanol is cloudy because it's aerated. Purge it with nitrogen or helium, or a pull a slight vacum on it, and I'd bet it would clear up.

My point is, just because you have cloudy methanol doesn't mean it's bad. But if you want to dump 55 gallons of it, by all means, do so.
You do realize that I'm a wet chemist right? I'm not just pulling this out of my ***. If there's anything I can bring to this forum, it's some chemistry knowledge.

LOL !!!
I would listen to the chemist Mr.stangtamer, and tame down that defensive attitude.
The day a man thinks he knows all is the day he stops learning.....Just sayin...
The guy is trying to save you some money and possibly educate you with information that you may be unaware of, for free no less..... Yeah what a jerk, lol.....
Maybe you get methanol for free ????
I have spent less and less time on this site due to such disrespectful posts.
Lots of good info on here if you have the ability to sift through all the useless posts...
Back on topic,
Although I would not personally use the 6 month old Methanol as a primary fuel source, I wouldn't hesitate one bit using the same methanol as a charge air cooler, which is the OP's intention.
Even if it pulled in 5% water by volume, it will still serve the purpose in keeping IAT's down.
