Default 102 TB on a ls3 intake good or bad idea?

I am currently in the middle of a 418 build and I have a ported ls3 intake with the setup. the original owner used a stock ls3 tb and the ported ls3 intake with a 85mm maf.

my setup will be a 104 lid, a card style maf with a 4 inch pipe, I was thinking of just doing the 102 tb to make it all match and fit better, but is there going to be a issue with the smaller intake port and woul there be any adverse affects on air flow?

I may uprade to a 102 intake at a later date, but the previouse owner said he lost HP on the dyno with a 102 and put the porteld ls3 back on, but im thinking his small maf probably had something to do with it.

I would really love to hear from some experts especially tony mamo if he can chime in.

i believe u might have some flow restriction.. thats what i was told about 2 yrs ago.. had the same plan to save money for a bit but i was like **** it might as well get everythiing correct and do it right the first time.but ill let a pro chime in..

if you have a 104 lid a bigger maf and a 102 tb the only affect i see would be to open up the inlet on the ls3 intake otherwise you arent utilizing the affects of all that airflow kinda like the opposite of the bottle neck affect you are getting alot of air in and once it gets to the 102 tb the hole gets smaller after it passes the tb if your ls3 intake opening is clearenced for that 102 tb then yes it should be fine all though a 102 intake would only make it flow even better u need to run a big maf like the 100 mm tsp or lingenfelter or go speed density tune to not have a restriction in the maf but if the previous owner had an 85mm maf that was what was holding that set up back u see no gains from a small maf and a big intake you should be fine if you are not running a small maf

I will be running a card style maf so there will be no maf restriction it will be 102 up until the intake, and the intake is a ported ls3, im just windering if I would actually lose power with a 102 insteaf of sticking like a 95 on it, because of the turbulence that might be crated with the air hitting the smaller hole of the intake

There is little to no gain going from a 90mm to 102mm on a stock intake. The 90mm opening is not the flow restriction. Your engine doesnt ask for that much air, therefore you dont need a 102mm TB.

Now its different when you talk 102mm FAST intake. The runners internally are different. Id run the FAST 102mm intake with the 90mm throttle body like I did. Again your engine wont ask for more than a 90mm TB can flow.
