Cam suggestions for turbo LS1
IDK if i should do a custom grind (or if i can bring myself to pay the $ for one) or buy a shelf cam?
specs:
5.3 block bored to 3.905 (LS1)
317 heads, mild valve job
LS1 intake and TB, (gonna try to pick up a vic jr)
stock crank
forged oliver rods
forged wiseco pistons
head,main studs.
LS9 head gaskets (seems to be what everyone is using)
stock rockers w/ trunion upgrade.
power goal is around 700fwhp on a good SD tune with maybe 10-15 PSI
possibly using a midsize T4 frame 80-85mm turbo. (havent sorted out the turbo selection yet, goal is to get the motor finished up firts, worry about boost later)
and dont bother telling me to use the search button. Im asking what would be the better choice, im 90% sure most of you will say custom grind, but i dont think i can shell out the $$$.
Thanks in advance guys.

If you don't intend to go past 700 fwhp, pretty much any cam will work. An ls6 cam would have great drivability and make the power. I'd go for something a little bigger, like low to mid 230's at .050". I'm no cam expert but my cars have ran just fine with off the shelf came. I will be going custom this time around though since I'm trying to max out my combo. A lot of it is just going to be personal preference, do you want it to have stock-like drivability or do you want a little lope? Are you willing to make a compromise to save money? As long as you don't go too crazy with duration or lsa you'll be fine. Obviously, custom is the way to go but it's far from mandatory.

i love a cam that hits hard as hell,i did run the largest off the shelf cam from comp in my LT1 and it was awesome, but i also want it to perform, and eventually ill crank up the boost to see what happens.

Speed Inc TU1 or TU2 if it's going to be a lot more of a race car than street car, or TR's 227/224 114 cam like I have.
VA speed has some really nice F/I cams also that would be perfect for what you want. Look into the VTC2 from VA speed.
Don't get a blower spec'd cam. Wide traditional splits in duration aren't favorable for cylinder filling and building boost at low rpm's. They may sound nasty at idle, but I'd rather build boost way sooner than the guy in the lane next to me.
