Default Lq4 swap

I've just done an LQ4 swap in my 02 trans am. I'm at the end of the project and I've run into an absolutely retarded problem, the starter. The starter from the old ls1 is too short to reach the flywheel. I tried the starter for a 2000 chevy silverado, but it was the same as the ls1 starter. I have reached the highest level of aggrivation! Does anybody out there know what starter to use for the lq4 swap?.....SOMEBODY..PLEASE..HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just pulled everything back apart and there is no spacer and the starter will not reach the flywheel. went to auto zone and went through most of there inventory and i couldn't find a starter that will work.

The older LQ4s just have a longer crank, where as the newer ones just use a short crank and a spacer. The crank should be nearly flush with the rear seal. The long cranks (and the spacers) stick out about 1/2 inch past the seal.
