Default Possible Cam For A L33

ok so I have a bone stock L33 I picked up with 24k on it.

I'm picking up a used LSXrt intake manifold and I'm wanting to go ahead and do some type of cam.

Now i'm kind of wanting that is still streetable and not strip only.

A buddy offered me his setup he was going to put in his.

What do you guys think?

Cam -

Intake valve lift - .580, degrees of duration 225
Exhaust valve lift - .590, degrees of duration 229
Lobe center 114 + 4 LSA

Push rods -

5/16" x 7.400" hardened

Valve Springs-

Gold Dual Valve Springs, Super 7 Locks, Ti retainers, Seals & .505" Bases (use with stock guides)

EPS told me to go with a 218/222 cam with around .595 lift on both sides.
If I had 3.42 gears he said I could go with a 222/226 with around .595 lift

So I would look for something around those specs.

what heads are on it ,consider head port flows to pick a good fitting cam with the proper duration splits..comp cams have some good LSr cams for L33s or contact Patrick-G for a custom cam that will make great power for your combo.

I would definitely not put "alot more cam than that" in a 5.3L that he wants to still have good street manners.

OP that 225/229 is on the large side for a 5.3 and I would stay away from that if you want to enjoy driving it. The 218/220 intake duration suggestions above are the max I would recommend.

Well I went ahead and bought the 225/229 I'll try it out and see how it does. if I decide to I can always downgrade.

Compression will be your friend with that cam. I would advise milling the heads and running an 0.040" head gasket to reclaim some bottom end torque.
