Default chevy high performance/ rear end

this month in chevy hp magazine they say one of the good things about a 4th gen is that the rear ends are strong and can support nearly anything you throw at them. dont know if this was posted already. now i dont have to worry about mine anymore.

He's not joking, they sure do say it in the last paragraph on the bottom of page 42. I'm assuming they mean 98-02 rears are strong compared to 93-97. They also say 93-96 is LT1 and 97-02 is LS1, lol.

Actually I've been reading the magazine since the 90's, they have always had really good tech, some of the best actually. The article he's referring to is about affordable project cars, they aren't going into alot of detail here, just making suggestions for good Chevy project cars.

actually ls1s were used in c5s in 1997.

im also not aware of any differences in strength for 10 bolts in ls1s over an lt1.

however, im going to have my 10 bolt rebuilt(again) but its an auto which helps.

i wonder if they meant they could handle anything you literally throw at them, such as rocks, bricks, small children, etc..

Yes, but they were talking specifically about 4th gen f-bodies.

Torsen differentials from 98-up.

No, that's '99+. '98s get the Auburn style (which I personally prefer).

The 10-bolts have held up pretty well to some aggressive builds behind A4s, in my experience. M6 is a totally different story though.

That link said 1999-2002 for Torsen units in f-bodies. As far as I know, 93-97 never came from the factory with a Torsen. I want say that 1996-up could get the SLP option for the Auburn units. I'm honestly not 100% sure though.

Haha, yeah I just read that. Like I said, I wasn't 100% on it.
