Default T56 - Lots of heat coming through center console?

So I have a 2002 WS6 TA M6, and let me tell you the center console gets really hot! I mean the shifter boot is extremely hot the center console gets hot and I have no idea what it is. Ideas?

it has:

Cam
Headers
Power Cats
Borla Catback
Ford 9", 4.11, Grizzly Locker, 35 Spline Axels
Custom Chromoly DS
Drive Shaft loop with Torgue Arm Mount
Torque Arm
Panhard Bar
Sub Frame Connectors
Custom Tune

I`m wondering if it has something to do with the Thermostat? I mean if I put the air on in the car it cools down, Engine Temp is always normal, Only trans area heats up hot!

Ideas?

yea, especially in Traffic. If you were to put your keys in the center console they will heat up very hot, for some reason I dont think thats good. Anyone have any experience with this?

^^This. If you take off the upper console plate, you will probably find the rubber boot that seals off the shifter and floor from the outside elements. With the exhaust right near there it's gonna get hot.

To be honest, I've ran my car with a modded boot (Pro 5.0 shifter) and everything stock, and it was the same amount of heat coming through the console. Just remember the heat coming off the trans itself, on top of any exhaust that runs by there plus the flow of the air coming off the engine, is gonna put heat in that area, theres a gigantic hole there.
