Default Farks Supercars and A.R. Headers Team Up To Go Racing!!

Hey Guys, I wanted to pass along some news on what we’ve been up to with our partners at Farks Supercars in Brooklyn, NY. About 1-1/2” years ago we teamed up with Farid and George, the father and son team at Farks Supercars to build a 5th Gen Camaro specifically for racing. With my son Louie attending S.A.M’s, (School of Automotive Machinists), in Houston and the more than capable Fark’s crew, with 35 years of race car building experience, we knew this could be a successful formula. The plan was to build a solid roller and stroked 9:1 LS3 with an F1R Procharger, an FB Turbo 400 trans and maintain the independent rear suspension but upgrade to a 9” Ford with DSS axles from Hendrix Engineering. As the photo’s below show, we stuck with the basic plan.

Most of the pics were taken during the build process at Farks Supercars. Dyno tuning was just done a few days ago with Matt at Tune Time working his magic. 11-12 lbs of F1R boost on a 416 cube LS3 on the dyno translated 686 RWHP with 786 RWTQ.

We’ll be doing a full write up with all the details of what it took to make this build a reality. We want to thank Procharger, Mast Motorsports, Pedders Suspension, Hendrix Engineering, Matt at Tune Time Performance and the great instructors at S.A.M.’s for their invaluable support. Our long term goals with this hot rod haven’t been determined yet. For now both Louie and George will quickly learn what mid 9 seconds feels like. Videos on the dyno are coming soon along with test and tune passes at Atco. If everything’s good to go you’ll see the our Gen 5 at various shows, including the LSX Shootout in Indy next month. Thanks and Enjoy!

The pictures are posted below from the start to the completion of the car.

Sincerely,

Nick Filippides
American Racing Headers

Taken the day we got the car, a beautiful 2SS M6.

The chromoly 6 point Roll bar being fabricated at Farks.

The driver bar contours the door panel to allow for the most possible shoulder and leg room.

The super charger plumbing was routed inside the fender to allow easy access to the engine.

The plumbing completed with the fender back on.

A water to air intercooler was mounted under the dash with 20 an water lines running to a tank in the trunk.

Fuel/Water cell mounted in the trunk.

The LS3 is in after a complete forged rebuild by Louie at SAM's.

Nice shot of the Jesel squeezed into the stock heads.

The Racepak and switch panel custom mounted in the dash.

The trans in with a modified stock crossmember.

ARH chassis brace and complete exhaust system.

Mark Williams Ford 9'' aluminum center section and Hendrix housing.

Farks 1 piece drive shaft with HD u-joints.

ARH mufflers and trans cooler.

Complete BMR suspension.

Custom Farks 1 1/2'' chromoly anti-roll bar with aluminum mounts and endlinks.

ARH 2'' Headers.

Procharger in and ready to go!

Engine wired and plumed.

Farid is the man! He did the cage in my dad's Vette and almost 10 years later we are still more than satisfied!

Beautiful car! But why such a small cage for a car that is looking to run 9's or better?

During the fabrication process of the cage, we weren't sure how fast we'd be running during the early stages of the project. We felt low 10's would be a good start for both George and myself since neither of have any seat time in anything this quick. As the project progressed we quickly learned the roll bar is insufficient. An update will be made within 2-3 weeks to keep us legal and safe well into the 8's.

Keep in mind that Fark's can provide this roll bar in kit form. It allows easy access, it's chrome moly and it keeps all the stock interior panels totally intact.

Surely a cage with bends on critical bars like that will offer virtually no strength all ?

The cage was built using only chromoly, so it's extremely stong. Bends on the door bars do not weaken the structural rigidity of the cage what so ever. Also the co-driver of this car is the son of the man who built the cage. All of his intensions were based around safety, ease of access followed.

That may be, but a straight bar will be massively stronger than any single bar with a bend already in it.

It will be stronger than having nothing there perhaps, but Ive never seen anyone build a cage with a structural bar like that.
Although I would also add that the rules for cages in the US for cars are a bit strange or outdated sometimes given the structural integrity of modern cars.
