Hi guys, i have a 2004 GTO with a 5.3engine with ls1 heads on it and am running a STS Turbo it with 10 PSI boost, and Meth.. im not done with the tune yet but im not happy with 340 rwhp, ive seen people make 400 rwhp with the same setup as me...

i need ideas.. right now ARF is reading 10.3 at wot with meth.. i need ideas.. i want at least 380 rwhp

holy crap with 10 psi all your getting out of a 5.3 is 341? I would imagin with 10psi you should be well over 400 if not at about 500 hp.

why go with a 5.3 and stock ls1 heads though thats a very weak combo, I am assuming you did it for lower compression but theres way better heads out there that will drop compression even more. something is definetly wrong and your air fuel is off you need to

sounds like you got some seriouse tuning issues to work out.

10.3 is waaaaay rich. Get someone to tune that car and make sure you don't have any boost leaks, etc.

You just need to work on the tune more.

For comparison my 5.3L Avalanche truck made 500/500 to the wheels with the stock 5.3L and 10lbs of boost from a turbo with pump gas. It's all tuning.

AFR on a boosted engine should be 11.0 on pump gas. Tuning with meth ads complications big time. On my 100% stock including DOD L76 6.0 i made 616whp through a slush box 6l80 trans on sts twin turbos and 10 psi. Mustang dyno

good luck finding the problem, i wish i could help but tell us more about ur set up... i'd guarentee someone on this forum can pitch in if they notice a problem. also post ur graph up if u can

What timing are you running? Did you try adding timing and leaning it out a little at a time to see if it picks up power? AFR with meth is going to run richer than without... but the only way to find out what the combo wants is to vary it by small amounts and see if the power picks up...

Mid 11's afr at WOT and that combo should be able to run around 20* of timing (maybe even more). I have seen cam only 5.3's put down that power level, you should def. be at least 400. I think the tune just needs more work as the others have said.

Running an intercooler? What air temps is the IAT sensor seeing under boost? Did you mount the meth nozzle at least 4 inches before the IAT sensor? I'm guessing a bunch of timing is being pulled because of high air temps.

Good lord, definitely a problem. My N/A 5.3 truck made 309 with 31 inch tires and stock LS1 heads and a 224 cam. 341 from 10 pounds is nuts. Look for the IAT like others said and lean that baby out some.
