Default Converter questions

I'm pretty new to the LS1 world, and I'm wanting to get a higher stall converter for my T/A. I've searched through countless threads and I think I might have an idea of what I need, but I want to ask to be sure I'm doing everything right.

The converter I'm thinking about is a Circle D converter, somewhere around a 3600 stall. Should I go with the 245mm or 258mm, and single disk or multi disk? Current mods are in sig and I do eventually plan on doing heads and mild cam (gotta be able to pass stupid CA smog lol).

Tranny cooler.. I've read that this is highly recommended. The B&M 24k gvw cooler from TR seems to be popular. My question to those of you that have used this--does it come with all the hose and fittings you'll need, or did you have to order that separately?

Last question (I think?).. Flexplates. I see some people recommend upgrading that when they do the stall. Necessary? Recommended ones?

Thanks in advance!

1. Go 245 single disk, 3600 would be a good speed.
2. The B+M 70264 comes with everything need for install.
3. I recommend an SFI flexplate for piece of mind. The stockers aren't the best things in the world. SFI units are available from the converter makers I'm sure, I know if you sweet talk Yank they might throw one in with an SS3600

If you have any questions about set up contact Chris @ Circle D - All our sponsors have outstanding products. Also, I've been told by many many shops and even some sponsors a flexplate with mods like ours isn't necessary but I guess for pom.

Thanks! Are your converters the same for the 4l60e and 4l65e, or are the converters different for those?

The 4L60/65/70 are the same assuming they are from a LS motor.
