Need turbo/motor build advice.
Plain and simple, I am sick of filling bottles already. I currently have a ms3 cam/ported ls6 oil pump/ls2 timing chain etc. with a harris speed works wet plate kit. The car runs great, but I fabbed up a turbo setup on my last camaro (3.8) and I want to do the same with this car.
There are a few things I would like to get opinions about. I am looking for the cheapest, but "safest" route. I would like to be around 750rwhp after its all said and done.
1- Put in a boost cam and put a forged rod/piston in my ls1.
2- pick up a local lq9 long block from a friend that has a bent rod, and forge that, and sell my current setup in the car now.
3- I really like the master power turbo's. I have had great luck with them in the past, and they are hard to beat for the money. Will a t76 (.96 a/r) get me to my goal?
I am going to be fabbing up a truck manifold setup. I would like to relocate my battery, and mount the turbo in the stock battery location, if this is possible. I still have a/c and I would like to keep it, but I am not affraid to remove it for clearance.
any opinions? I am mostly stumbled on doing the forged lq9 or my ls1. I still have stock 241 heads on the car as well. If I forge my ls1, should I go with a 317 head to drop the compression down? or will the stock 241's be fine? This is my first time building a motor for boost. I am a newb about it at the moment....

Stick with your alum. block to save weight and since you already have it.
241 heads will work well, and you could use a ls9 headgasket to help with sealing as your going to have to push that mpt76 to prolly the teens psi wise to make 750 at the wheels, but it's attainable, but might not be attainable if you drop the c.r. too much. Dropping the c.r. ratio with 317's will make less of a chance of detonation on pump gas so if your not opposed to running race gas at the track I'd look for 9.1:1-9.5:1.

Thanks for the info.
I am not a race gas person honestly. The car has always been on pump gas and alot of the summer I DD the car, rain or shine.
so, go with a 317 head on my 346?
what CC pistons would you recommend with stock 241's? or stock 317's?
also, is there a "lopey" boost cam they make? Thats one thing I Do not want to lose with this build. The cam lope is my favorite part, and I would like to keep it. I know that with alot of overlap, it causes a boost drop. This is why I planned on changing my ms3, but would like to find a boost cam that sounds identical. Possible?

Brutespeeds blower cam is pretty lopey. my buddies car has it and it sounds awesome. Or you could talk to VA Speed about something custom, im sure they can help. Stick with the forged ls1 too. throw some rods and pistons in it and it will more than handle 750whp. now since you are kinda saving money by not ditching the ls1.. you should look into a lil bigger turbo. that mp76 will have to work pretty damn hard to hit your goal. the precision 76 would be perfect for what you want.

I was actually thinking about trying one of those "on3" turbos off ebay? I hear good things and they look pretty legit.

IMO blower cams don't belong in a turbo app. The reason its so lopey is it has a lot of overlap.
A good cam that judging by it's specs that would still lope well and sound great would be the speed inc. tu2 as its lsa is 112 and has a healthy duration for a 347, but it has 11.0 degrees overlap where your ms3 has 15.5. 11 is a lot for a turbo car. I think your gonna have to kinda find a compromise in between it and the TU1 at 225/225 113. For example my cam has -3 degrees overlap IIRC.

not sure a masterpower 76mm will get you there, on the other hand a pte88 will have no problem.
cheapest and best way to do it would to be buy my car, take the parts off mine and put them on yours, then sell my car as a roller or whatever...
