Default Cam swap disaster

so im wondering how much i just screwed myself over...in the middle of swapping my cam, i dropped a !@#$%^& bolt down in the pickup tube coming out of the oil pan....now what...im struggling to find a magnet that will fit down there on a bending tube and my last resort would like to be dropping the oil pan. Looks like you are dropping the pan buddy worst case scenario. The funny thing is, I bet if you tried you couldn't drop that bolt down there again. **** happens, and enjoy the big green wheenie again! Semper Fi Devil.

maybe remove the oil drain plug and try to move the bolt to the drain hole with a big magnet .use a small pen magnet to pull it out the drain hole.

The tube puts the stick right in the sump of the pan, It only makes sense thats where the bolt would end up. I would definately try to remove the drain plug and fish that thing out,,You may get lucky..If not LET the cursing begin...

Yes, but that pickup is so close to the bottom of the pan, with a bolt falling from the top, I dont see how it could get under it, considering that he has the car down. However there is a sump tray in the bottom of the pan, If the bolt is on top of that tray, you wont get it out from the drain plug, will have to drop the pan, if it made it past the tray, you got a good shot of getting it.

Magnet on a string? The pick up tube is aluminum so the magnet should turn those corners alright. Go to an arts and crafts store for a large assortment of magnets. I know this is late but thought I'd throw it in here.
